Who I’m Looking For

The Pint & Portal Author Podcast is about the business of being an author. Every episode teaches authors something they can use to build a sustainable career: marketing, sales, direct-to-reader, crowdfunding, ads, audio, and the systems behind them.

It isn’t a book promotion show, and it isn’t a craft show. Please read this page before applying.

Authors Running a Proven Author Business

You treat your writing as a business and you have results to show for it: meaningful income from your books, successful crowdfunding campaigns, a direct store, a mailing list or ads system that works, or a backlist and release strategy other authors can learn from.

Helping authors build a successful author business.

Industry Specialists

You work with authors, and they trust you to build their business. I’m not looking for ideas for authors to expand their reach. Whether you’re an expert at ads, wide sales, or something else, you’ve proven you help authors build their business. Scammers need not apply.

Open to the right fit

What Makes a Good Episode

  • A specific topic or angle on how you’ve built your business.
  • Real numbers, real examples, real mistakes.
  • Takeaways a listener can act on.

Not a Fit

Please Don’t Apply If You’re Pitching

  • A debut, or a first book about to launch
  • Writing as a hobby
  • Solely promoting a book launch or backlist
  • Craft topics (worldbuilding, character, prose)
  • PR agency or booking-service pitches for a book
  • A specialist segment that’s really a sales pitch

No hard feelings. There are great shows that feature new releases, and they’re a better home for that conversation.

How to Apply

Fill in the application below. I read every one. If it’s a fit, I’ll get in touch to set up a recording. If you don’t hear back, it isn’t a fit for the show right now.
